Hi there - I'm Kelsey!
I love the excitement of receiving a real letter in the mail from a real person (Christmas morning level excitement). It is my passion to help others create beautiful and unique designs that represent them as a couple in a seamless and efficient manner. Your wedding invitations set the tone for your big day and should be something you can look back on and remember all the beautiful memories that were created surrounded by your closest friends and family.
I have always had an obsession with handwriting and typography. I remember as early as middle school when someone commented on how neat my science notes were, but never could have imagined at that time that it could turn into a little business! Many years later, I began practicing pointed pen calligraphy and fell in love with the art form.
FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS: Yoga (I graduated with my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification in September 2019), my hometown Youngstown, Ohio, the Real Housewives series, any historical fiction
HOW I GOT HERE
My journey to starting KMP Calligraphy was a longggg one. After graduating from high school and starting college, I had no
idea what I wanted to major in or do with my life. I decided to major in business with a focus in marketing because the school
I attended had an awesome business college and of course the practicality of business in the workforce. After graduating,
I started working for a Fortune 500 company in management and sales. Long story short, I hated my job. But, I still didn't know what I wanted to do with my life so I stuck it out as long as I could. When the long hours, stressful quotas, and lack of work life balance became too much, I decided to go back to school to work toward my Masters in Higher Education. After about two years of coursework, internships, and graduate assistantships, I began working at a regional campus of a state university.
While I liked my job at the university much more than in sales, I still felt that something was lacking in my life. The ability to be creative, do something I was truly passionate about, and take charge of the direction my life was going were all missing. I had done some calligraphy and signage for my own wedding day and was enamored. I began a consistent calligraphy practice, taught myself how to use graphic design programs, and became fully immersed in my side hustle.
Life can be hard and oftentimes it is easy to feel like we're stuck. I'd love to share more about my creative journey with you or hear about your story. Send me a note via my contact form if you'd like to chat more!
